Random Delirium: Chanukah in NY

Updated January 5 7:22pm

* On Motzoei Shabbos a group of Ottawa Bochurim together with Schneur Hayes & Sholom Ber went to eat out in Boulevard Café. Gav sweet-talked the waitress to give a few sandwiches and fries “on the house”. Motty Slater ate on Sholom Ber’s account. After the meal, Gav picked up some business cards of a Shadchan and went around giving out the cards to all the Chassidishe Meidlech he saw on the street, causing them to run away...

* On Tuesday, Yankee went with Sholom Ber on Mivtzoim in a Mitzvah Tank to Queens, it was the first time Sholom Ber drove a Tank, and he got one of the bigger tanks, a 32-footer. The Tank was sponsored by some 8th grade freaks from Oholei Torah who put Peewee to shame in their extremely “mature” behavior. The little kids behaved awful so Sholom Ber & Yankee had to stop the Mitzvah Tank in middle of the street and get up and take care of the kids. Upon seeing both staring at them they quieted down pretty quickly. During the drive the kids didn’t quite understand that they must sit down so problems don’t happen, and they stood up twice. The first time coincided with one of the times that Sholom Ber hit the brake and the kid rammed into the table breaking it. Fourth Table Sholom Ber breaks.... Second time the same Bochur crashed thru a mirror... During Mivtzoim, only Sholom Ber & Yankee did Mivtzoim, and Yankee was rewarded with Pizza in Kretchme’s paid for by Sholom Ber’s younger brother.

* On Wednesday afternoon two British Soccer teams played and Sholom Ber went with Gav & Yankee to ESPN Zone to watch the game. Considering the fact that Gav was under 18 he had to be accompanied by a 21 year old and Sholom Ber served for that purpose. At the bar both Yankee & Gav ordered a “Big Daddy” of Beer (The biggest cup, the size of about three bottles), and Yankee ordered also a regular bottle of Beer. They guzzled it down אזוי ווי די פראסטע גויים and after the game was over, all three walked out. Yankee was extremely affected by the Alcohol content of the beers and was walking down the street making a lot of noise... Upon claims by both Sholom Ber & Gav that he was drunk he “proved” otherwise by walking (relatively) straight, claiming he is totally fine. Sometime later he admitted he was tipsy. This was later denied again. Afterwards all headed to the grand Menorah lighting on 59th St. and returned to Crown Heights in the Official Mitzvah Tank. Yankee used the ride to explain how he plans on spending 10 million dollars on One Hummer H-2...

* Gav, Meir & Yankee joined Sholom Ber for a trip to Ocean City, Maryland for Shabbos. The drive was in a tiny Kia Rio car which barely fit Sholom Ber & Yankee alone, never mind with all the luggage and the food. On Friday they went shopping to the Outlet Mall across the street where they found some great sales. On Shabbos night everyone ate well and went to sleep, Shabbos day they all stayed in Shul for Five Hours and then went to “sleep” (Meir couldn’t figure out why he should sleep so he instead opted to disturb Yankee, and both he and Gav pinched Yankee and tickled him until he was breathless and hurt, especially when it is topped with harassment about his drinking abilities...). On Motzoei Shabbos there was a great party in honor of the recovery of “The Godfather” the dude who sponsored the Shul, everyone got trashed, the Rabbi (who happens to be Sholom Ber’s cousin) got trashed too and did a few Kullah’s. One of the unsuccessful ones was with Sholom Ber which resulted in the latter’s glasses breaking. For some time Sholom Ber was considering giving the wheel to Meir Lieblich, ‘cause he wasn’t able to drive without glasses. Thank G-d some DIB fixed it... In the meantime, Yankee & Gav went to check out some Hummers which were parked outside, both took pictures with it. On Motzoei Shabbos NEW YEARS EVE the drive back started with a case of beer and red bulls. When time came, they stopped at a Gas Station where they drank the beers and called Levi Vogel to wish him a Happy New Year (Later Levi was picked up in his home and taken to NY). The drive ended 4:30am in NY.

One of the Highlights of the drive is that in Ocean City there is a sign which says "Sacramento 3073" Miles away... The longest coast-to-coast highway in the USA.

Some Cool Pictures of the Road Trip to Maryland could be seen HERE!
