Mivztoim or Learning Torah? Gav vs. Rabbi Subar

It all started on Friday Morning when Gav joined Cantor Subar's class for the morning Shiur, and told the teacher that he wants to go on Mivtzoim and therefore doesn't want to learn. The Teacher then told him "Mivtzoim is very important, but learning is too, you should sit and learn and that's how you will connect to other Jews". Gav took it literally and stormed out of the class right to Schneur and told him: "He thinks its better to learn than to do Mivtzoim". Schneur wasn't too happy and proceeded to tell Gav what the truth is.

Later on that afternoon, while Gav was on Mivztoim, he approached a Palestinian Woman, and mistaking her for an Israeli asked her if she is Jewish, she obviously answered with a scorn that she is not, and that she is a Palestinian. Gav then leashed out on her a verbal barrage of curses and told her exactly what she is, where she belongs, and where she should go to. An outright Chillul Hashem. She then threatened to call the cops, so Gav dissapeared. After this, many people thought that what Cantor Subar said was right. Gav shouldn't go on Mivtzoim.

Not long thereafter, at the Shabbos Table at the Hayes' residence, Rabbi Hayes addressed this issue, and related a special Yechidus (Private Audience) he had with the Rebbe when he was a Bochur in Yeshiva. Rabbi Hayes asked the Rebbe what he should do, because some Bochurim harassed him about going to Mivtzoim and the Rebbe answered: "There are those which are supposed to focus on learning and those which are supposed to focus on Mivtzoim, but never should Mivtzoim be done instead of Learning!".

Cantor Subar was right!
