“Bloc Quebecois” partners with Yeshiva Tourism Ministry

Yamamai Political & Travel Dept.

As most of you know, the Canadian Government has gone thru a crisis and has dissolved; as a result general elections are happening soon in the Canadian Country. There are quite a few parties, all of them are the same except for one, “Bloc Quebecois”, a party which wants to make Quebec a separate country and advocate a French only country. It has quite a broad base of support which ranges from the French-Trash to the Tohsh Chassidim in Montreal. One of their goals is to promote tourism in their province, specifically tourism originating from Ontario, the rival province.

Our Yeshiva has recently promoted quite a few trips to the Quebec Province, including a Ski Trip in Mont S. Sauveur, and more recently two trips to Montreal. We will discuss the latter ones here.

After 42 Chumash Shiurim, Hanhala has finally decided to give a trip to the Bochurim who had over 20 Chumash Shiur’s, and double Schwarma for those who had over 40 Chumash Shiur’s. On Tuesday, Rabbi Berger announced that those who will miss Seder will be off the trip so there should be less Bochurim which will only require the van and no more cars. To spite Rabbi Berger, all Bochurim kept Seder to the dot, and Rabbi Berger had to go ahead and request that Sholom Ber rent a car. Sholom Ber went ahead and rented a nice car, a “Buick Allure”, which gives Sholom Ber very great memories: 1) When Sholom Ber got pulled over last year for speeding 104 in a 50 zone and the rental was confiscated, Gersh rented a “Buick Allure” from Hertz in Kingston, Ontario. 2) After Sholom Ber crashed the Minivan on the way to the Ohel before Rosh Hashana, he got a replacement car, a “Buick Allure”... So when such a car is given, it gives us good memories.

The actual road trip to Montreal went smooth, with Sholom Ber trailing behind Hudy who was driving the big 15P. Once we arrived at the destination, i.e. Chez Benny’s, everyone happily sat down to Fress, with “Big Mama Texas taking care of everyone’s leftovers and still staying hungry. In middle of the meal Shmuli took a long bathroom break, and returned shortly thereafter to eat some more...

Some time later, Yossel was contacted to remind him of the good old times when he would go for a drive to pick up a Schwarma and drive back, or when Sholom Ber would bring him back a tasty Schwarma Laffa to the dorm to help him in his spiritual shrink sessions.

Some time during the trip, the Bochurim realized the reason Rabbi Berger sent them specifically on Thursday night and not on any other night. Since there was a Bar-Mitzvah for the next scion of the Hayes dynasty, Rabbi Berger wasn’t interested in the Bochurim being exposed to the various Ottawa Girls who would come to such a celebration, and sent away the majority of the Yeshiva.

After the meal was over, everyone headed back to Yeshiva for Maariv, where they were greeted by a very interesting scene, Yossi Agulnik showing his dancing talents to the female section... It disgusted most of the somewhat religious Bochurim and amused the Fraye Beheimos...

After Maariv everyone headed back to the dorm, and Lights-Out happened at 1:00am...

With this ended the first phase of the tourism to Quebec for the month of January. The next phase started the next morning, with a group of guys going to Montreal for Shabbos.

The trip started with Yossi Agulnik, Yankele Lefton and Tiffy joining Sholom Ber for the ride. Some time after arriving in Montreal, they arrived at Zvi’s Chabad House, where Yankele was dropped off. From there, they headed to Lubavitch of Montreal, where Tiffy, Yossi & Sholom Ber got dropped.

Shabbos in Montreal has its own Highlights, just like a Shabbos in Ottawa. Wherever there is one or more Ottawanian there is bound to be something to write about:

Yankele is Popular
On Friday Night, Yankele was sitting and chatting with Chayale Hershcovich in the women’s section of the Chabad House, and there were three girls sitting there too. Suddenly, ChayaleYankele various questions about where he came from, etc. When Yankele
demanded to know what was going on, she answered: “I am just telling these girls about you!”. When Zvi, who was Chazzan, heard this he commented: “Vince you are popular!”

Yankele
takes on the Ice... Literally

On Motzoei Shabbos, Sholom Ber did the rounds picking up the guys, and the last stop was Benny’s house, where he and Yankele were chillin’. Once there, Sholom Ber called them to come out, and they came out. Yankele got close to Sholom Ber’s car, and Sholom Ber pranked him, saying Lobenstien is in the car ahead!” (Lobenstien is the girl from Bal-Harbour, which Yankele was trying to hit on while in Florida). Yankele fell for it and started running towards the car. When he realized he was pranked, he decided to run back to Sholom Ber and bother him by flashing the camera at him. When he got close, he started running with camera in hand, and suddenly PLOP PLOP, he slipped right on the fresh ice, snapping a picture as he fell...
