SPECIAL REPORT #2: Zvi's Wedding

By far one of the best weddings I have ever been to. It was a wedding where barely any Farshtunkene Baale-Batim were present. Fully Bochurim. Bochurim of Ottawa, Bochurim of Yeka & Bochurim who are just friends...

We pulled into Morristown in time for the Chuppah (actually before everybody else) and were surprised to meet a big variety of ex-ottawanians: Motty Slater, Motty Jaffee, Reuven OverLymie, Nussy, Yossel Raichik, Yisroel Bernath & the two Renegades: Benny Schmidt & Shmuli Stiefel.

The ceremony started with Zvi chazzering the Maamar while sitting with a tie on, a tie which didn't quite fit him (i.e. his personality). It was the usual ceremony with him going downstairs to the ladies' room where the Kallah was sitting and saying Tehillim. Then we headed to the Chuppah. At the Chuppah Zvi was VERY SERIOUS praying for everybody (especially for Yaakov Lefton & Leib Morris), as you can see in the following picture.



Benny sang Boruch Habah after practicing inside (during the Maamar) with Sholom Ber... It was beautiful, with all the unmarried girls in the crowd looking at him with glee. It definitely helps him with his Shidduch date... (See here for his previous unsuccessful Shidduch date).

Right after Zvi cracked the glass, Gershon lighted a whole box of matches to celebrate, he made a big fire!

After the Chuppah everybody went to the wedding hall, the Chosson-Kallah went to take pictures and I went outside to wait for them. Since I had a Lincoln, I was chosen to drive them. After a very long wait, I finally drove them to the wedding hall, where our Bochurim were waiting to greet them, flashing cameras and taking pictures.

As they entered the hall, the dancing ensued, with our Bochurim leading the dancing. It was a moment to see, Zvi wore his Beinuni Jersey, and the Bochurim were going just wild. To top it off, Mendy Pellin & Phil Mendelsohn (both Sumashechi's of Yeka Camps) made special performance, Phil by jumping on the ceiling and Mendy dancing with his cane.

Most of our Bochurim said Lechaim and were on the verge of drunkeness, it showed on their behavior, with their dancing and eating, etc. Zvi also juggled fire for his wife, showing his wife his great talent in Gershon's art of fire. The fire department came because the fire alarm went off, and stood there waiting for the show to end, when they quietly dispersed from the scene.

Vince carried Zvi on his shoulders dancing away, and then as Zvi descended he elbowed Vince in his head in a fierce mighty motion, causing Vince to get knocked out for a few seconds. Later, Vince decided to do the same to somebody else, this time to Sholom Ber, as they were dancing together, Vince fiercely elbowed Sholom Ber’s nose causing a major nose bleed which was taken care of in the bathroom.

My wedding present to Zvi was a bucket of Peanut Butter. Gershon’s wedding present was 4 mouse traps (in case Chaim Hertzl comes around).

At the end of the wedding, after everybody left, Gershon's Kallah showed up and brought him a bag of... Nutty Chews!
