Leib Morris and his dog not allowed into Canada for fear of Mad Cow’s Disease

The past 10 days have been very hectic and frightening for some Bochurim of our Yeshiva, it started with Peewee trying to get over the border and receiving a 14-day Visa with a warning to get out, continued with Tiffy trying to get in and getting only a 7-day visa, and concluded today with Leib Morris.

The border patrol was sick already of those coming to study in Canada who are too cheap to get a student visa, and claim they are coming to “visit some friends at 812 kirkwood”, and decided to crack down.

Tonight, Leib Morris was coming with the train from New York to Montreal when at the border he was asked what he was doing, he answered he is studying in Canada. When asked for his student visa he gave last year’s visa, and they requested him to get off the train and work out the details in the customs agency. Leib complied and exited the train with his luggage. The train did not wait for him.


Upon entering the immigration offices he was greeted by a stern looking officer who explained to him that if it is not settled he may have to go back to the USA. Leib then phoned his father who found the paper for this year and arranged for him to get his student visa. After an excruciating long wait he was finally awarded his visa, paid in full $125 CAD.

The agent then proceeded to give him a bus ticket to get to Montreal by bus. Leib gladly accepted the Greyhound voucher. The long awaited bus finally arrived and Leib happily loaded his luggage and boarded the bus. The driver then went around and asked for tickets, and Leib showed the ticket he got, the driver looked at him and booted him off the bus saying the ticket is for “Greyhound” not for the bus company which does the service to Montreal.

Leib went off the bus and back into the station where he was comforted saying that it will not happen again and he should board the next bus... two hours later...

Leib arrived at Montreal and took the 11:00pm bus to Ottawa arriving at 1:15am, just in time to see the second egging of Peewee’s window.
